There’s nothing like a big black mark on your favorite shoes to ruin your mood. First things, first—make sure it isn’t just dirt that can be scrubbed off.
If you are stuck with a scuff, read on for three tips:
Gently rub an eraser over the scuff:If you have a light scuff on your wooden heel, gently erase the scuff with a grade-school eraser. The scuff should come right off!
Invest in shoe polish: For leather shoes, use shoe polish that matches the color of the leather to cover the markup, or a leather lotion, which will gently clean the shoe’s surface.
Visit the cobbler: If it’s a bad scuff mark, or a really expensive pair of shoes, don’t DIY—head to the shoe repair shop. What you’ll be charged will vary depending on the brand of shoes and where you live, but it’s likely cheaper than buying a whole new pair.
Keep in mind that shoes undergo normal wear and tear, but the ultimate trick to keeping your shoes fresh for longer is to store them in their original boxes or a soft bag and wipe off any scuffs or stains as soon as you see them.

Don’t be afraid to add a new pair of wooden heels to your wardrobe because you’re scared of scuffs. Take your style quiz, order a Fix and have your stylist include a new pair of heels. You have scuff tips ready to roll. Don’t love them? No problem, send them back. Shipping and returns are always free.
