Help! How do I rescue my drawstring from my waistband?Luke

We’ve all had a drawstring SOS. You pull your pants/shorts/hoodie out of the dryer only to see an extra foot of drawstring on one side and no string to speak of on the other. After you shake your fists in despair, try these handy tools and tricks below to save your tie-waist faves.
Break Out The Bodkin
What’s a bodkin, you ask? This handy needle tool is specifically designed to pull ribbon or cord through a hem. If you’re not in a hurry, you can head to your local fabric store and ask an associate to point you in the right direction.
Save It with a Safety Pin
First, grab a safety pin or sewing needle. Locate the lost end of your drawstring in your waistband and push the needle into the end knot. Slowly push the drawstring with the needle until you run out of needle. Pull the needle out and repeat. This is slow work, but the sense of accomplishment will be sweet.
Use This Tip For Worst Case Scenarios
This is particularly handy if your drawstring has come all the way out. Straighten a wire hanger and bend to create a horseshoe shape. Insert the hanger into your waistband and push through. Tape your draw string to the other end of the hanger so it’s pulled through as you push the hanger. Once the hanger (and part of the drawstring) are fully out, adjust as needed for even distribution.
With your drawstring back in place, you’ll be ready to take on the world. It’s the little things, right?
